It’s not often that teams can’t be separated on the scoreboard after 80 minutes of rugby. Being all tied up after 100 minutes (20 minutes extra time) is even rarer but that was the story of last year’s final between University and Harbour.
It was the students who led 16-10 at halftime after a dominant display in the first half. Harbour came back into the match in the second half and led 30-23 with a couple of minutes left before University scored to level things up at 30-all. Then, after twenty minutes of extra time and in dark conditions with the score being 30-all, the banner was shared.
It was Harbour’s first title since the club was formed in 1992 and University’s 50th premier banner.
