With the local club rugby competitions now finished for the year here in Dunedin, my attentions now turn to the 1st XV division. In previous year’s local grades in the men’s and women’s competition have finished over several weekends, meaning that the 1st XV games have been played at the same time as the club finals. However, this year a window has opened thanks to the wonderful finals festival held last weekend, resulting in a clear window for the local 1st XV’s to showcase their talents as their play-off games get closer.
Old rivals Otago Boys High School 1st XV and Southland Boys High School 1st XV clashed this afternoon at Bishopscourt with Otago Boys walking away victorious with a 28 to 10 win. The win qualifies Otago Boys for the final while the other spot will be decided between Kings and Southland Boys High School.
