@tapebootsandbeer – 20.04.21 An objection and appeal to the referee during the Premier Women’s Club Rugby match between Pirates and Big River Country played at Opoho in Dunedin, on Saturday 10th April, 2021.
Rugby really is a game of momentum and turning it can be a tricky tasks. On Saturday, Green Island were scoring at a point a minute in the first half to be leading 40 – 0 at half time. The second half however was a completely different story with Zingari spending long periods on attack. Unfortunately for the Dragons the damage was already done in the first half. Green Island won the match 50 – 24.
What’s rugby without a few debates over decisions. Usually it’s from spectators on the sideline however occasionally the coach gets the ear of the referee like in this series of shots. It all started when a strong Green Island scrum got the better of the Zingari pack just before halftime. With the Zingari coaching staff unhappy with the angle of the Green Island drive, a heated discussion then took place between Zingari Richmond coach Craig Sneddon, Referee Brandon Hale and Assistant Referee Chris Hart. I believe by the end of 80 minutes everyone shook hands and headed off for a beer.
