Around The Grounds this afternoon in the Premier competition it was Zingari Richmond, Dunedin, Harbour and Kaikorai who all had wins before the knockout stages begin next week. At Montecillo Zingari Richmond had to much energy in the second half for Green Island, winning the Hellyer Memorial 24 to 19 and ensuring that for the first time in many years, they didn’t finish with the wooden spoon. Alhambra Union on the other hand went down 20 to 52 to Kaikorai and finished their season at the bottom of the table while Kaikorai finished in fourth spot. At Kettle Park, Dunedin defeated Southern 36 to 32 to win the Ron Reggett Cup while Harbour were 31 to 24 victors over Otago University at Watson Park.
Today’s results means Taieri finish top of the table with 39 points and claim the Gallaway Trophy, Dunedin finished in second with 30 points, Harbour were third on 25 points, Kaikorai fourth on 24 points, Southern fifth on 21 points with Otago University claiming sixth spot with 14 points. Looking ahead to next week Taieri will host Otago University, Dunedin will be at home to Southern and Harbour host Kaikorai.
