Around the grounds this afternoon in Dunedin club rugby, at Miller Park Green Island retained the Speights Challenge Shield with a 20 all draw with Alhambra Union. The Green Island side held a decent 17 to 3 lead at half time before Alhambra Union score 17 points of their own in the second half to walk away from Miller Park with the points shared. Taieri won the Paul Sapsford Memorial defeating University 38 to 14 in a match which the the Peter Johnstone Park based side always lead. Dunedin were 23 to 15 victors over Kaikorai while Harbour won the Scoles Memorial at Montecillo running out 22 to 12 winners.
The results today leave Taieri four points clear at the top of the table from Green Island (eleven points), Dunedin (nine points) and Alhambra Union sitting in third spot with seven points.
