The Auckland Storm have beaten the Otago Spirit in the Round 2 clash of the Farah Palmer Cup, played at the University Oval this afternoon.
Competing in the Premiership, the Auckland Storm entered the match have defeated the Bay of Plenty Volcanix 44 – 12 in their first round match the previous weekend, while the Otago Spirit went down to the Wellington Pride, 13 – 5 in Wellington.
In a tight contest for most of the match, it was the Otago Spirit who opened the scoring and eventually went into halftime only behind by 1 point as Auckland had a 13-12 lead at the break. The tight contest continued for most of the second half, however it was in the final 15 minutes when the Auckland side pulled record a 39 to 15 victory.
