I’ve really enjoyed photographing Women’s rugby over the last few years. For some reason it has feels more enjoyable to shoot with a bit more variety in the play. I think it’s because I find there aren’t as many forward pods hammering into short defensive line that gets repeated again and again and again. Here, Alhambra Union prop Ellis Doyle attempts to breaks free of Morgan Walkers tackle during the Women’s semi-final between the Pirates Wahine and Alhambra Union Crazy Horses played at Hancock earlier this month.
