University have won their third consecutive Women’s Banner with a 36 to 5 victory over Alhambra Union this afternoon at Logan Park.
The defending champions started the match as warm favorites and built an early 12 – nil lead through tries to Captain Tegan Hollows and right wing Trisha Hopcroft. Alhambra Union struck back with one of their own after Alhambra Union left wing Jamie Church finished off a nice move to bring Union within 7 points. However, a series of quick University tries right before halftime gave the students a 24 to 5 halftime lead.
In the second half, Alhambra Union wasn’t able to turn possession into points as it attacked the University line through a series of penalties. University then quickly turned defense into a attack with two tries to extended their lead and earning them a 36 to 5 victory and the 2020 title.
