Saturday:Around The Grounds
The last round of matches in the 1ST XV competition here in Dunedin and around Otago was played this afternoon. Going into the final round, Otago Boys had already secured a spot in the final, with the other finalist likely coming from the winner of today’s Southland Boys v Kings High School match. With only one round left, I headed up to Littlebourne here in Dunedin to see top four sides John McGlashan College and Otago Boys High School clash.
A strong second half performance in the mud and rain at Littlebourne today ensured Otago Boys High School went into next weeks final with winning momentum. In the first half, John McGlashan College spent long periods on attack and their quick line speed on defence meant the Otago Boys side had to work hard for their halftime lead. It was in the second half however that the Otago Boys side took control and picked up a number tries to win 40 – 5.
